Make a Difference: Give Back on MLK Day

"Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Monday, January 15, we honor the birthday of the late civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. From special events to embracing the outdoors, there are various ways to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. For example, the National Park Service waives entrance fees, allowing visitors to enjoy all national parks during the holiday, making it an ideal time to explore Great Falls Park for free!

While the holiday falls on a Monday, numerous service projects are taking place not only in Fairfax County but also in the Washington, DC area throughout the entire weekend, offering opportunities to pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.

Now is the moment for reflection and finding ways to help others and give back to the community. Here's how to get started.
